Welcome to the website of the Discalced Carmelite friars in Termonbacca, Derry.

The word 'Termonbacca' comes from the Gaelic words 'tearmann' meaning sanctuary and 'bacach' meaning a lame, crippled or poor person. The name may come from a monastery on the site.

Termonbacca is an ideal name for how we see our work here. We welcome people searching, seeking healing and peace, people who want to deepen their spiritual lives.
